Yesterday the lucky ducks over in Japan got a demo of Resident Evil 5 over Xbox Live while the rest of us sit in envy…well NOT this time! Fear not fellow Resident Evil fans, you TOO can try out this demo before the official US release sometime in January (supposedly), and here’s how:
What you need:
- A blank CD-R (or DVD)
- The means to burn files onto this aforementioned disc (aka CD/DVD writer drive)
- These files:

(UPDATE: Ok, everything’s finally uploaded. Sorry about the rapidshare links but I didn’t want to kill my own bandwidth. It took a hell of a long time to upload all 3 parts so appreciate it.)
How it’s done:
- Extract all the folders and files, including “Content”, from the RAR onto your desktop.
- Open your CD/DVD burning program of choice (I used a free program called ImgBurn, but anything should suffice really…even the crappy built in ones for XP/Vista)
- If using ImgBurn, select “Write files/folders to Disc” and open the “Content” folder under the “Source” option, click the “folder -> disc” icon to begin burning. A dialog should come up asking whether you want the Content folder to be root or not, select NO. (If not using ImgBurn, select the data disc option in whatever program you’re using and burn away)
- Pop the disc into your 360 and go into the Game Library, you should see it there with japanese writing and a little 5 icon (under demos section).
There you have it, a Resident Evil 5 demo without having to mod your console or any of that other crap and little more effort than burning a disc. Everything within the game is actually in english as well. JOY!
