I’m a little bit late in this, possibly due to my binging in Wolfenstein for several days after getting a $40 Xbox 360 version last Sunday, but last week was also a good week for Co-op gamers everywhere (or atleast those that own a Xbox 360 and/or Playstation 3) and here’s why.
1. Not one but THREE new releases on the Xbox Live Arcade that feature offline/online cooperative play each.
ION Assault – Kind of like a cross between Asteroid and Geometry Wars, this space shooter uses the power of collected particles in the world to blast asteroids and foes while collecting power-ups. If you’re into games like Geometry Wars and pretty visuals then give it a shot.
The Warriors : Street Brawl – It’s a side scrolling beat-em-up game, it’s based on the movie The Warriors, what more is there to say? If you’re into that type of game you’ll probably have fun joining up with a couple of friends.
Zombie Apocalypse – This one was the most appealing, atleast in my case (who doesn’t like a good zombie game?). This overhead shoot-em-up involves exactly what the title implies, mass hordes of zombie waves as you try to survive day in and day out. Environmental kills with shredders and explosive drums will only do so much for you, so of course you’ll need an array of weapons as well, such as flamethrowers, assault rifles, and miniguns among others. Oh, and let’s not forget about the chainsaw. Join up to 3 friends and find some meat! (also available on Playstation 3)
2. The expanded Lost Planet 2 demo out on Playstation Network NOW
That’s right, Playstation fans rejoice because the new Playstation 3 demo of Lost Planet 2 has more playable missions over the Xbox 360 version that came out about a month ago, 2 new areas to be exact. Sure, it’s not a great deal more than the past demo but it beats the hell out of only a boss battle that the 360 demo has. Also released on the Playstation Network this week was the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 demo. Unfortunately though the co-op gameplay is missing for now, but will be present in the final version of the game.
